In this respect, we think that Kayaköy should be mentioned in particular.

Kayaköy is one of the places that are noticed and attract more visitors day by day. Half-demolished historical houses in the region's unique beauty completely cover the slopes of a hill. It almost creates the impression of a giant ghost village. In this respect, you can evaluate our Fethiye rental villa and rental apartment options that we offer to your preference and you can also visit Kayaköy.

Fethiye Holiday Opportunity in a Fascinating Environment

Kayaköy is full of houses with peeling paint and collapsed roofs. There are photo areas everywhere. There are groves in the gardens of the houses that maintain their liveliness and will offer you handfuls of figs in season. Every square meter bears traces of the lives of thousands of people in the past.

Kayaköy, which is 15 minutes away from the sea, used to host a large Greek population. Greeks escaping from pirates founded the village in the 1700s, thinking of settling inland. In those years, there were only 300 or so households, but in the 1910s, it had a population of 6,500. During the First World War, the nationalist movement began with the separation of Greeks and Turks who had been living together in the village for centuries. Starting in 1916, Greeks were forced to migrate to Greece in droves. The last survivors left everything behind and moved to Greece in 1923 through the population exchange. Later, Muslims from Rumelia were settled in Kayaköy. However, since they were not used to living on steep slopes, they also migrated to other places. However, they took building materials such as roofs, doors, windows and lumber with them. The neglected village was transformed into its current state when it experienced a major earthquake in 1957. In recent years, the region has started to revive with the interest of those looking for a holiday opportunity in Fethiye.
